In the general terms, the dress standard at our school for Administrative staff and faculty can be described as business casual. Teachers and staff should dress in a fashion which would be appropriate in any customer service oriented, professional work place and as well, or better than, the manner in which our students are required to dress.
WOMEN are encouraged to wear:
- Slacks, skirt, or shorts and a blouse, sweater, dressy T-shirt- without writing or a shirt with collar
- Closed toed shoes, conservative tennis shoes, or sandals in good condition
- T-shirts with Académie Lafayette logo
- Traditional African-style dress
- A dress
- A blazer
MEN are encouraged to wear:
- Slacks or shorts and a shirt with collar or dressy T-shirt- without writing
- T-shirts with Académie Lafayette logo
- A blazer with or without a tie
- Closed toed office-style shoes, conservative tennis shoes, or sandals in good condition
- Traditional African-style dress
The following additional guidelines apply to both WOMEN and MEN:
- Waistline of skirts, pants, or shorts should be at the waist
- Minimum length of shorts and skirts should be two inches above the knee
- All clothing should be laundered and in good condition
The following are inappropriate for WOMEN AND MEN:
- Blue jeans, cargo pants, camouflage attire
- Extremely casual or worn T-shirts with or without writing
- Clothing which exposes a bare midriff at any time
- Un-hemmed or frayed clothing
- Clothing with rips, tears, or holes of any kind
- Clothing exposing cleavage skin
- Flip-flops/Thongs
Exceptions to the above:
The first Friday of each month is designated as "casual day" when blue jeans and cargo pants, nice T-shirts and overalls, which are laundered and in good condition may be worn.
There may be designated casual days for fund raisers during the school year.
Teachers and staff may dress down on other non-teaching days at the discretion of the Academic Director.
